Life narratives: older adults sexually abused as children

The experiences of older adults who were sexually abused as children are not always included in sexual violence research. My study aims to help close this research gap in order to support services for  older adults and sexual violence services consider the needs of this group.

I am recruiting older adults (age 65 and over) who were sexually abused as children and are willing engage in three individual interviews with me over a 6-9 month period. To aid the interviewing process, I will ask participants to bring objects and photographs to ‘map out’ important life events and experiences.

The study aims to identify participants life experiences and life stories including understanding if participants feel the sexual abuse has influenced these. To find out more about me and the research, please see my YouTube links.

Please do feel free to get in touch for an informal discussion about the research and to find out more.
