This year our Changemakers activism community is supporting campaigns run by members. Our main campaign launched during the 16 days of Activism is for personal health budgets to be used for accessible therapy for adults abused in childhood.
Survivors Voices members Patricia Wennell and Maria Slobodina have produced a compelling policy paper that argues personal health budgets should be used to ensure survivors have access to therapy. You can help this campaign by contacting your MP, using the short guide below, which also has a link to the policy paper.
A short guide about emailing your MP
Please help us spread the word about our policy paper to introduce Personal Health Budgets as a way to fund therapy for people affected by childhood abuse. Below you will find a short guide about contacting your MP (downloadable guide HERE).
- If you aren’t sure which MP is responsible for your constituency, you can find out here based on your postcode: Find your MP – MPs and Lords – UK Parliament
- By following the above link and entering your postcode, you will also be able to find the contact details for the MP.
- We have put together a short template letter that you can amend if you wish. Parts that might need to be altered are highlighted in yellow in the template document which you can find HERE. It’s important to include your name and address so that the MP knows that you live in their constituency.
- The PDF version of our policy paper can be downloaded using this link and once you download your copy you can attach it to the email.
- Press send and that’s it! Thank you again for helping us make change happen.
Patricia and Maria have presented at our next Changemakers meeting and will be at our next Researchers Community meeting explaining more about their campaign and the evidence in their policy paper. We’ll post updates about the campaign here during the year.
