Do you want to use writing for healing? Or maybe you are working on a blog, writing a poem or wondering about publishing a memoir? Whether you’ve hardly written before, or you’re working on a draft of your next book, you’ll find a welcome in our survivor writer community. Led by survivor author Jane Chevous, we gather in a safer and supportive space to hear survivors’ voices and use some simple creative writing exercises to discover and develop our own.
Breaking the silence of abuse through creative writing and story is a powerful tool for healing and change. Our writing community and events provide a safe, inclusive and supportive space for anyone who has experienced abuse and trauma to hear other survivors’ voices, and use some simple creative writing exercises and constructive feedback to discover and develop their own. We have both regular survivor writers gatherings, and occasional courses, workshops and events.
The community supports the work of Survivors Voices Press, our publishing arm. Sharing your writing with the community for feedback at our fortnightly meeting is a good way to work towards publication. There are also opportunities to contribute to community projects and publications; and join our team of ‘beta readers’, reviewing draft publications.
The survivor writer community is for any survivors who want to break the silence of abuse through creative writing and story, powerful tools for healing and change. You may be a survivor wanting a supportive space to write for your own healing, or someone wanting to develop your skills as a writer with a view to sharing your work more widely, or a published author or blogger working on a new project. All are welcome.
Our regular community gathering is fortnightly on Thursday evenings from 7pm-8.30pm UK time on Zoom. Spaces available now. Join using the form below.

We launched Survivors Voices Press, our indie publishing project, in December 2024, with two wonderful books by members of our writing community, The Reality of Rape and Poppy in pieces. Read more about SVP HERE and buy the books in our Shop HERE. You can also purchase them through Waterstones or Amazon. Please leave us a review when you have read them.
To join the writer community, please first read our information and community guidelines. If you are happy with guidelines, and want to get involved, please register using the form below. We’ll add you to our mailing list for writer community meet-ups and other opportunities.
PLEASE NOTE that by submitting this form you are confirming that you are a survivor of abuse/trauma and agree to follow our safe practice guidelines.
